These must be changed every 60k km's or 4 years, originally it was 90k but they started to break aswell with the engine...

Mine cost around $750 for a timing belt kit and new coolant drive in and out, Audi's can only use G12 coolant which you can only get from the dealer and costs $25 for a top up bottle. also they will check the age of the water pump and 60% of the time they will advise you to change it becasue they come with a plastic tip and can get brittle. costs will add around $300.

Ahh...

Nothing beats the ability of being able to put an Audi/VW into service mode (Pulling the front off) :)

Yeah, because they're chain-driven

You can do a Hyundai Excel/Accent one in an hour, if you've done a few before. I've seen a guy do one in 45mins, but he was seriously pissed-off, so he had motivation

A mate used to pull the motor out to do them. If it were a manual, it meant he could up-sell a clutch at the same time.

If it's like any other part of a Subaru I've dealt with, pulling the motor out should be pretty easy.

bah... thats nothing!

try doing a timing belt by yourself on a Z32
even with the rad out, everything in front of the timing belt out, front bar off and anything else that will get in the way off you still have sweet f*ck all room

That's nice.

But maintaining a European car is of most importance. As is speaking/typing proper English ;)

Why? Because you've got no idea?

Dude, I work on Euros for a living. I know what dumbshit customers are up for when they skimp on services.
